Shadow Simulation Videos
A shadow simulation shows, hour by hour, how sunlight and shadow move across a site. We model the existing buildings and the proposed extension in 3D, then run the sun's path for a chosen date — usually 21 March, the date the BRE guidelines use for gardens and sunlight tests. Planners, neighbours and clients can see exactly what changes.
Existing: 21 March, sunrise to sunset — 4 Ravenscroft Gardens
What a shadow study tells you
- Which neighbouring windows and gardens lose sunlight, and at what times of day
- Whether at least half of each garden still receives two hours of sun on 21 March
- How design changes, such as a lower roof or a set-back, would reduce the impact
Shadow studies can be added to any neighbour impact report. Contact us or get an instant fixed-fee price.
